Holes in the Circle

September 15th is approaching sooner than later everyone and the anticipation for the return of The Vampire Diaries will finally pay off! Along with our favorite Salvatores making their season three return, the CW will also be welcoming a new show based on another book series by L.J. Smith entitled The Secret Circle.

For those of you who have read the books, the story follows the life of a girl named Cassie Blake. She relocates from California to a quaint town by the name of New Salem. Long story short, Cassie is initiated into a "secret circle" of the last remaining descendants of a twelve family coven of witches that settled into New Salem from Salem in 1693. The power of the circle depends on the membership of exactly twelve witches, five boys and seven girls. When the soon-to-be-member is found dead, Cassie inadvertently takes her place.

The twelve members including Cassie are as follows: Diana, Faye, Suzan, Deborah, Doug, Chris, Nick, Laurel, Melanie, Cassie, Sean, and of course Adam. From the previews cwtv.com is providing us and from researching the cast list on imdb.com as well, it is apparent that not all of the members are included. Just like The Vampire Diaries, producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec are taking creative licenses with the development of the storyline and the inclusion of characters. So far it seems that the cast includes Diana, Cassie, Faye, Adam, and Nick from the original book version of the coven. The list also mentions another girl in "the club" by the name of Melissa....possibly a redesign of Melanie's character? I'm not sure.

Once again I'll leave the debating to you. Were your favorite coven members cut? Who would you like to see added or deleted to make the show better? Will the creative license taken with the story line pay off? If it's anything like The Vampire Diaries, we can be sure it will.
